Prayer
What is prayer? Webster defines prayer as, “an address (such as a petition) to God or a god in word or thought”. Prayer is how Christians have a conversation with the one and only true living God. We have to pray in order to remain steadfast on our Christian journey and goal to raise our children in the Christian Faith. This is one of many reasons why Christian moms should pray. In prayer, we can talk to God about anything. It is also a time to listen to what God is trying to tell us. Today we will discuss 5 reasons why Christian Moms should pray.
The amazing thing about prayer is that God is always there to listen. It doesn’t matter if we want to give thanks, ask a question, ask for forgiveness or even pray for someone else! God wants to hear our prayers, because He loves us and wants to hear from us.
Haven’t prayed in a while? Mama it is okay! I have been there! Our days are long and rushed and time has its way of getting away from us.
Maybe it’s not time, maybe it’s that you have been hurt or disappointed. Guess what? You’re not alone there either! It’s never too late to start talking to God again. He never left and He never will.
I am here to help you get that fire reignited! We have to stay grounded in prayer so that we can have what we need to overflow to our families.
Let’s get right into 5 reasons why Christian Moms should pray!
Why Should Christian Moms Pray?

1. Christians (Moms) are commanded to
God commands us to pray in His Word. 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18 says to, “pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus”. God expects us to pray because He tells us to! God wants to hear from you. It doesn’t matter how long it has been since you prayed or if this is your first prayer. No better time to start than now! Even if you are feeling like you have gone too far, God is waiting with open arms for you.
God is BIG and faithful. There is no problem He cannot handle. Take all of your cares to Him. We have to pray because when we don’t, we carry burdens that we cannot handle. Prayer is the answer to all of our needs, doubts and longings. As you develop a healthy prayer life you will see your faith starting to build.
2. Prayer Builds Faith
As we communicate more and more with God our faith arises. There is something very special about spending time with God in prayer. Prayer is for our benefit and for God’s glory. Prayer is what gets the faith wheels turning in our minds, hearts and then souls.
As you meditate and believe on God’s promises in prayer, you will feel your faith building. Jesus said in Matthew 17:20, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
What a promise! Our faith doesn’t have to start off big! We can go to God boldly with our requests in faith, no matter how big or small, knowing we will see the hand of God moving in our lives.
3. To Set an Example for Our Children
It is so adorable when the little ones want to copy mommy and daddy. Children naturally mimic what they see as they are growing. So, let’s take advantage of this and show them how to use prayer to change things! My kids love praying and then watching to see how God will answer. As they see you pray and believing, they will want to join to! Teaching your kids to pray and have faith at early ages will be one of the best things you could ever do for them. This will help prevent them from looking for answers in the WRONG places.
Need some help with starting your prayer life or getting back to it? Not sure how to begin praying with your children? I have something just for you!

4. To see Change
If you want to see change in your life, your children’s lives, your marriage, your partner and those you love I challenge you to pray! God hears every prayer you pray. If you pray in faith and according to God’s will, I promise you, you will see the hand of God moving.
1 John 5: 14-15 says, “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.”
Are all of our prayers answered the way we want? No. Are prayers answered immediately. No. Even though we may not get the answer we desire or in the timing that we feel is best, we have to trust that God knows what is best and His timing is perfect.
5. To Build our Relationship with God
Communication is one of the primary aspects to relationship building. How are the relationships in your life when you are the only one talking or listening? I would assume these are not the strongest relationships. We have to talk and listen to each other in order to learn about one another and to grow closer together.
Each relationship is give and take. Relationships are about giving and receiving. Our relationship with God is no different. If you want to grow closer to God, you have to talk to Him. When He speaks we need to listen. Sometimes talking is a lot easier than listening. I have come a long way with this one, so don’t be discouraged!
Sometimes during my prayer time, I won’t say anything. I will feel prompted to play a worship song or flip to a particular verse in my Bible. This leading is from the Holy Spirit. Ten times out of ten, the song or verse that I am led to is exactly what I needed.
Listen to that pulling or that leading that you are feeling. Sometimes God may even speak to you through someone else. Spend time talking and listening to God. Then watch your relationship with God and others blossom.
Conclusion
In conclusion, there are so many reasons to pray, especially for Christian Moms. Prayer is a commandment, a faith builder, an example to our children (them watching us praying and believing), how we see change and most importantly, how we build our relationship with God.
