Find your purpose? Helping moms find purpose and joy in their work

Finding Purpose for Moms

It’s not always easy for us moms to identify our purpose, but God has a special plan for you, and He has equipped you with all the tools you need to navigate through this life. I know you might be viewing your job or work at home as just a duty that is required of you, which helps you pay your bills and take care of your other expenses and family, but it’s much more than that. God wants you to be joyful in your toil so it’s important to find your true purpose in what you do. We will explore what it means to find purpose for moms, how to find it and the benefits to be gained.

What does finding purpose really mean?

The scripture says in Ephesians 2:10 says “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Finding your purpose means discovering how your skills and talents contribute to the welfare of others, while contributing to your personal and professional fulfillment.

How to find your purpose

There’s a special work that God, in His wisdom, has designed for each of us. You have spent many hours on the job, working at home, or maybe even both, and when you discover your purpose, it can make your work so much more fulfilling. Here are a few ways God teaches us moms to find purpose in our work:

Seek to discover what motivates you

I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God. -Ecclesiastes 3:12-13

Understand that you are chosen by God to serve humanity

You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. -John 15:16 NIV

Understand that there is a greater purpose in your work than just making money.

God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. -Hebrews 6:10 NIV

Identify your skills and talents to help you find purpose

And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills. -Exodus 31:3 NIV

Identify ways in which you positively impact others through your work

And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased. -Hebrews 13:16 NIV

Understand that your work is a high calling

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. -Colossians 3:23-24 NIV

Seek to utilize your skills in all that you do

Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. -Philippians 4:9 NIV

Always seek to learn more

The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge; the ears of the wise seek it out.
-Proverbs 18:5 NIV

Seek feedback and also encourage others to do their best.

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
-1 Thessalonians 5:11

Benefits of finding your purpose in your work.

Discovering and connecting with a sense of purpose in your work can be deeply rewarding. Finding your purpose in your work can lead to greater job satisfaction, resulting in higher motivation, loyalty, and commitment.

You are created to fulfill your true purpose. Do enjoy this amazing discovery.

“If you want to stay motivated you must be working for a purpose. Make sure every day you make a difference!” –Billy Cox

Conclusion

You have a purpose mama! If you are having difficulties with finding purpose, I would challenge you to spend some more time in prayer. We are called to serve our communities, churches, homes and some of us are also called into the workplace. None of our callings are the same and they should never be compared.

We all have different talent, skills and abilities and we should all be working together for the uplifting of God’s kingdom and glory.
