Ways God Provides for Moms
Do you ever wonder about the ways God provides for His children or for us as moms? Are you ever tempted to doubt that God will provide for you? If so, you are not alone. Whether they admit it or not, most Christian moms have times when their faith is challenged. Times when they are tempted to fear for their future. We also do not have to fear because God always provides
The bills are due, the car needs new brakes, and the house roof just sprung a leak—can you really be confident that God will provide for all of your financial needs?
Your schedule is overloaded; all of the to-dos just keep piling up—can you really be sure God will provide the rest you so desperately need?
The doctor found a spot on your x-ray… it doesn’t look good, they say—can you trust that God will provide the hope and healing you need?
You’ve been feeling lost and lonely; it seems there’s no one you can talk to—can you really expect God to provide the comfort you long for?
The simple answer to these faith questions is YES. You can trust God to provide everything you need. However, I know that while the answer might be simple, it’s not always easy to give.
When we are facing hard times—be they physical, financial, emotional, or spiritual—we need to be reminded and encouraged by the Truth of God’s Word.
God Is Jehovah Jireh: God Provides
One of my favorite names of God in the Bible is Jehovah Jireh—The Lord Will Provide. Abraham first used this name when God provided a sacrifice for his son Isaac (Genesis 22). This is a wonderful reminder of how God provides for moms and His children in different ways.
However, God has shown Himself to be a great provider since the beginning of creation.
- In the Garden of Eden, even after Adam and Eve disobeyed Him, God provided clothing to cover their nakedness (Genesis 9:3).
- When the Israelites needed to evade the Egyptians’ pursuit, God provided Moses with a staff that parted the Red Sea (Exodus 14).
- In the wilderness, God provided more than a million Israelites with food each day as they wandered for forty years (Exodus 16).
- For David, God provided a rock and a sling to defeat a giant (1 Samuel 17), then shelter and protection when he was being chased by a disgruntled king (1 Samuel 23).
- When a multitude of people needed food after one of Jesus’ sermons, God provided a little boy’s lunch to feed the crowd (Matthew 14).
- And, for you and me, God provided a Savior (John 3:16).
God Provides Everything We Need
We often associate Jehovah Jireh with financial provision, but God provides so much more!
Philippians 4:19 sums it up—
And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
Whatever your need is today, be confident that God can provide for it. May these Bible verses encourage you and give you deeper insight into God’s love and care.
